Feeding Instructions
Offer free choice. Feed intake with vary based on animal body size, life stage and level of activity. Adult hedgehogs should be fed approximately 1-2 tablespoons of Hedgehog Essential per day. Adjust the amount fed to ensure your pet’s optimum body weight. May be soaked in water to offer a softer diet during the transition period. Supplement food items including insects, vegetables and fruit can be offered as 25% of less of the total diet. Transition Instructions Allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your Hedgehog’s current food. Each day simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more of Hedgehog Essential. Initially, soaking Hedgehog Essential in water (2 parts water: 1 part dry food) can help to transition animals that are used to soft/moist diets. After 1-2 weeks on soaked diet, move to 1 part water: 1 part dry diet, and 1-2 weeks later, offer dry diet. If moistened, replace diet twice a day. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.
